Private Full Day Tour in Rhodes
Experience the perfect blend of natural beauty and medieval history on this unforgettable journey through Rhodes. Your tour begins with a panoramic scenic drive to the hill of Monte Smith, also known as Mount Smith, named after the English admiral who established an observation post here in 1802. From this elevated vantage point, enjoy sweeping views over the modern town and the medieval city of Rhodes.
While here, you will explore the ancient remains of the Temple of Apollo, as well as the ruins traditionally associated with the Temple of Zeus and Athena, and visit the remarkably preserved Ancient Stadium, where athletic contests once took place.
Continuing along the west coast and approximately 25 kilometers inland, you will arrive at the enchanting Valley of the Butterflies. This lush, shaded valley is filled with pine and storax trees and crisscrossed by gentle streams. The storax trees release a sweet resin fragrance reminiscent of vanilla, attracting thousands of butterflies that gather here to mate from mid June through the end of August. The valley is the natural habitat of the Quadrina butterflies and offers a serene setting of wooden walkways, rustic bridges, small waterfalls, and tranquil rock pools. You will have time to explore and take in the peaceful surroundings.
After your visit, you will return to Rhodes Town and enter the Medieval City through the impressive D’Amboise Gate, one of the historic entrances to the fortified city. From here, you will continue on foot, passing the magnificent Palace of the Grand Master of the Knights of Rhodes. Stroll down the famous Street of the Knights, lined with imposing medieval buildings, towers, and stone facades that transport you back to the era of the Knights of St John. Your guided walk concludes at Museum Square in the heart of the Old Town.
To complete your experience, enjoy a delightful traditional Greek meal at Romeo Restaurant. Here, authentic flavors, warm hospitality, and the charming medieval atmosphere come together to create a truly memorable dining experience.
