Exploration of Ancient Life in Ephesus

Begin your day with a journey to ancient Ephesus. Upon arrival, set out on foot with your guide to explore the numerous monuments, including the Forum, the Odeon, the Great Theater and more.

Explore the Terrace Houses, located in an archaeological site on the slopes of Bulbul Mountain, which feature engravings, mosaics, wall sections, and original floors, and offer an incredible view into the lifestyle of the rich Ephesians. Listen to stories of Mark Antony and Cleopatra, Alexander the Great, the Virgin Mary, and many other noteworthy people who walked the same marble streets. As you depart the Ephesus site, you will see the hilltop ruins of the Basilica of St. John in the distance, which was erected in the 6th century A.D.

Next, visit a rug weaving center, where you will learn about rug weaving and have time for shopping. Then you will watch a folklore performance provided by local students and enjoy lunch featuring the mezes, wine, and traditional delicacies prepared with local products. The performance will feature folk dances that are standard at wedding ceremonies and regional and national festivals, reflecting the rich culture from every region.

Following lunch, venture to the Ephesus Museum. This archaeological museum houses findings from the Ephesus excavation site and displays the statue of Artemis. Before returning to the port, you will pass the place where the Temple of Artemis once stood - a religious house that is counted as one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World.
