Deemed a UNESCO World Heritage site in 1997 for its outstanding beauty and traditional way of life, Portovenere is one of the Italian Riviera's most scenic fishing villages. You are sure to discover stunning views on your short ferry ride to this village. Upon arrival, your guide will take you to the Carugio, a narrow road within the city that is lined with shops and pleasant, earth-toned architecture. This road will lead you to the breathtaking square and Gothic church named for St. Peter. Continue to the Calata Doria, or quay, where you will be amazed by the tall houses looming over it, originally built as defensive towers. After your walking tour, take some time to explore Portovenere on your own before sailing back to La Spezia and your waiting cruise ship.
