Private Highlights of Mdina, Rabat, and Valletta with Lunch Stop and Airport Drop-Off

Travel by air-conditioned coach to Mdina, Malta's first capital, dating back to before Roman times. Together with your guide, you will stroll through the quaint winding streets, admire the beautiful palazzos still used as homes by Malta's oldest families, and enjoy the view from the bastions of the "Silent City".

Following your exploration of Mdina, you will visit Palazzo Falson, one of its most significant sites. Formerly known as the Norman House, this medieval architectural gem dates back to the 13th century and is one of the oldest surviving buildings in Mdina. The last resident, Captain Olof Frederick Gollcher O.B.E.(1889- 1962), curated an impressive collection of over 3,500 artifacts, including paintings, furniture, silver, armor, and jewelry, all beautifully displayed within this historic setting.

Next, you’ll proceed to nearby Rabat, where you'll have the chance to explore the charming streets and visit St. Paul's Catacombs, an ancient burial site rich in history. After your time in Rabat, enjoy a break for lunch at your own expense at a local restaurant, where you can sample traditional Maltese cuisine.

Following lunch, the coach will take you to Valletta, Malta's capital and a UNESCO World Heritage city. Begin your walking tour at the Upper Barracca Gardens, the highest point in Valletta, offering stunning views of Malta's Grand Harbor.

Continue through Valletta's main streets to St.John's Co-Cathedral, a 16th-century masterpiece showcasing remarkable Baroque art, including two iconic paintings by Caravaggio: "TheBeheading of St. John the Baptist" and "St. Jerome." Conclude your tour with a walk past the various Valletta Band Clubs, the Auberge de Provence, and the ruins of the old Opera House. Your motor coach will then be waiting to take you to the airport for your drop-off.

Please Note: The Magisterial Palace State Rooms in Valletta may close without prior notice due to the President's engagements or foreign dignitary visits. In these instances, the National Museum of Archaeology will be visited instead. On Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays, the visit of St. John's Co-Cathedral will be substituted with a visit to the Mdina Cathedral, The Grand Master’s Palace or the National Museum of Archaeology. Palazzo Falson is closed on Mondays and will be substituted with a visit to Casa Rocca Piccola. The order in which the sites are visited may change according to the logistical needs of the day.
