Journey to East Lava Pools and the West showcases some of Madeira's most remarkable natural landscapes, from rugged mountain scenery and ancient forests to dramatic coastlines shaped by volcanic activity. Traveling in a small group of no more than eight guests per vehicle, you'll enjoy a more personal experience while exploring the island's diverse scenery.

Travel through deep valleys, scenic viewpoints, traditional villages, and agricultural landscapes as you explore Madeira's western region. A highlight of the experience is Madeira's Laurissilva Forest, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the world's largest surviving laurel forests. In the Fanal area, centuries-old trees and rolling hills create a distinctive landscape, while an approximately 50-minute 4x4 jeep adventure travels through portions of the forest along unpaved and uneven terrain. Along the way, discover traditional levadas, volcanic features, terraced farmland, and remote areas that showcase the island's unique natural environment, with opportunities for scenic photo stops throughout the journey.

Porto Moniz is home to Madeira's famous natural volcanic swimming pools. Formed by ancient lava flows and naturally filled by the Atlantic Ocean, these pools offer a unique opportunity for a swim when weather and sea conditions permit. Water temperatures generally range from 61 to 72 Fahrenheit throughout the year, depending on seasonal and ocean conditions.

This experience combines Madeira's UNESCO-listed forest, volcanic coastline, traditional villages, natural swimming pools, and off-road exploration, offering a well-rounded introduction to some of the island's most distinctive landscapes.
