Private Parthenon with free time in Plaka with Hotel Drop Off and Pier Pickup
After meeting your professionally trained and licensed guide at the pier, you will begin your journey into the heart of Athens, approximately a 30-minute drive away. Your first stop will be the iconic Acropolis of Athens, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the crowning achievement of classical Greek architecture, art, and sculpture.
From this elevated vantage point, take in sweeping views of Athens, including the Ancient Agora, the Tower of the Winds, the Odeon of Herodes Atticus, and the Theatre of Dionysus.
After descending from the Acropolis, continue with a panoramic drive through the city. Along the way, you will pass important landmarks such as the Temple of Olympian Zeus, the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, and the former Royal Palace—now the Hellenic Parliament. There will be a brief stop for photos at the Palace and the nearby government buildings, offering excellent opportunities to capture Athens’ historic and modern contrasts.
Your tour will also take you past the University of Athens, the Academy of Athens, and the National Library, before arriving at the Panathenaic Stadium, site of the first modern Olympic Games in 1896, where you will enjoy a short photo stop.
On the way to your hotel, you will drive through the charming Plaka district, the oldest neighborhood in Athens, nestled beneath the Acropolis. Known for its blend of ancient ruins, neoclassical architecture, and vibrant local life, Plaka offers a glimpse into both the city’s past and present.
Your tour concludes with a convenient drop-off at the Athenaeum InterContinental Athens.
