Private Pearl Harbor, USS Arizona and Punchbowl

A brief history of the surprise attack at the U.S. Naval Base will be given by your guide prior to your arrival for the Pearl Harbor Tour. Upon your arrival at the Arizona Memorial, your guide will deliver you to the National Park Rangers, who will take you on a 23-minute historical tour using real footage of the attack on Pearl Harbor. Next board a Navy shuttle from the theater and be transported to the Arizona Memorial. Visit the Shrine Room at the Arizona Memorial and meditate on the names of the 1,177 men who are buried beneath the sunken battleship. Visit the actual battleship wreckage and the "black tears of the Arizona," oil that continues to pour from the ship almost 70 years after it sank.

Once you're back at the Visitors Center, you'll join your guide and have the opportunity to explore the intriguing museum exhibits and browse the gift shop, which sells books, memorabilia, and souvenirs related to Pearl Harbor. Situated close to the Visitors Center, the USS Bowfin submarine is visible from the grounds and also has a view of Battleship Row.

After this, you will be taken back to your hotel.

Please note that with tour you will also have a drive-through visit to The Punchbowl National Cemetery, located in the Puowaina Crater, an extinct volcano locally referred to as the "Punchbowl." Officially dedicated on September 2, 1949 on the fourth anniversary of V-J Day, The Punchbowl Cemetery has been described as the most beautiful and moving of all national cemeteries.

Please Note: The US Department of the Interior has instituted a "no bags" policy at the Arizona Memorial and Visitor Center. Pearl Harbor is still an active military installation, and as such there are strict security measures prohibiting large cameras, purses, handbags, fanny packs, backpacks, camera bags, diaper bags, luggage, shopping bags, and/or other items that offer concealment. No bags of any size are allowed. A small camera is permitted. The camera lens cannot exceed 6 inches. Wheelchairs, walkers, and canes may be used. Strollers are allowed, but with limited access to the site. Crowds and waiting are to be expected. Please bring vital items in a manner that can be placed in your pockets or clear small bag.
