Description

Private Briksdal Glacier

The excursion begins in the charming village of Olden. From here, the bus winds through the picturesque valley, passing the iconic 'Little Red Church' from the early 1900s. This quaint church, once a gift from an American collector of Norwegian antiques, now serves as a fascinating museum.

The journey continues along the serene Lake Olden to Rustoen, located at the very end of the fjord. This fertile valley is dotted with colorful farms and numerous waterfalls, creating a stunning backdrop that feels straight out of a postcard. From Rustoen, the tour heads to Briksdal Inn, the starting point for the walk to Briksdal Glacier, a striking arm of Europe's largest glacier, the Jostedal Glacier.

The trail to the glacier is a beautiful walk surrounded by waterfalls and majestic mountains. It leads to a viewpoint at the glacier lake, offering a breathtaking view of this natural wonder. The walk to the viewpoint typically takes 45-60 minutes. The first part of the trail is the most challenging, but once past it, the path becomes more even and the hike considerably easier, making the experience accessible while still rewarding.
