Description

Experience the stunning natural beauty and abundant wildlife of Sitka Sound on an exclusive private expedition. Led by one of Southeast Alaska's most experienced captains, this customizable adventure combines scenic cruising with the opportunity to step ashore and explore a remote island.

Cruise through pristine waters framed by the snow-capped peaks of Baranof Island and the dramatic profile of Mount Edgecumbe, a recently active volcano. Your route winds through secluded passages, golden kelp forests, and clusters of untouched islands home to an incredible variety of wildlife. Keep watch for humpback whales, porpoises, sea lions, harbor seals, and playful sea otters. Overhead, bald eagles soar while brown bears and black-tailed deer may appear along the shoreline.

For bird enthusiasts, a circumnavigation of the St. Lazaria National Wildlife Refuge (weather permitting) is an unforgettable highlight. Nearly half a million seabirds, including tufted puffins, murres, rhinoceros auklets, and guillemots, nest among the island's rugged cliffs and sea caves.

The captain will tailor the day's itinerary to your interests, whether you prefer wildlife photography, beachcombing, exploring colorful tidepools, or simply relaxing in the peaceful solitude of Alaska's coastal wilderness. The comfortable, expedition-style vessel features a heated cabin, panoramic windows, quality binoculars, and a large forward deck designed for wildlife viewing and photography. Even the onboard restroom offers a scenic view! A landing craft-style bow door provides easy access to shore for your island exploration.

With over 35 years of guiding experience, your captain will share his extensive knowledge of Sitka Sound, recent wildlife sightings, and the area's unique marine environment. Guest safety is always the top priority. If conditions are deemed unsafe, the tour will be canceled and fully refunded.

Please Note: Guest safety is of the highest priority. Your tour will be cancelled if the captain determines that conditions are unsafe. A full refund shall be made if the tour is cancelled.
