Description

Valparaiso and Vina del Mar (Post-Cruise)

Departing from your cruise ship in San Antonio, you will make the approximate one-hour and thirty-minute drive to Valparaiso, discovered in 1536 is one of the oldest and more charming seaports in South America, declared a mankind heritage by UNESCO in 2003. There, you will see the National Congress and many historical buildings in the surroundings of this natural bay. You will enjoy a view of the bay from the heights of "21 de mayo", a scenic viewpoint, or you will "feel" this city walking through its narrow and steep streets and staircases in one of the most traditional areas on top of the hills. Either way you will get to see the "street art" that this city is famous for and ride 1 or 2 of the old elevators which are a "must" among the tourist attractions of this city.

Right north of Valparaiso, you will get into Vina del Mar (1874), also called "the garden city" which is the closest beach resort to Santiago. Here you will see the oldest casino in Chile, beautiful public parks, a real MOAI (totem from Eastern Island), and some beautiful, long and clean beaches where many "santiaguinos" (people from Santiago) spend their holidays. Besides that, this is the right place for you to have lunch in some of the local seafood restaurants by the sea.

On the way to these cities or to Santiago, you will visit:

1) Emiliana, the first and largest organic and biodynamic winery on earth.

2) Veramonte, a Chilean winery owned by Spanish wine holding (Gonzalez Byass).

3) Bodegas RE, probably, the most innovating winery in Chile.

At any of them you will taste some of their best wines. These wineries are in the valley of Casablanca, which is halfway between the coastal cities and Santiago.

This tour down the coast is very interesting because of the biggest contrast you could ever find between 2 cities which are very close (conurbation), but at the same time very different.

After your tour, there is a 2-hour drive to Santiago de Chile. Your tour will finish at the airport 3 hours before the departure time of your flight.
